New Life, Same Chels

Los Angeles…the city of constant sun, where the breeze from the ocean soothes 8+ million people into an everlasting laid back state. This land is the Mecca of entertainment where a myriad of varieties and tastes are set in motion. It’s a place where every year, thousands of people flock for a better life, in pursuit of a dream or a safe (or scary) haven to start over. I didn’t come here to become a superstar or find a mate or chase a fantasy, I came here to exist. It’s so simple. People always ask me, “but why LA?” My response…why the hell not?
On the day that my mother, Jason and I arrived in LA to unload my life, we walked down Venice Beach, stood on the sand and gazed out at the ocean. Millions upon millions of people have done just that in different ways, days and moments, but regardless, they came and contributed who they are to make LA just what it is – lala land, a vast territory of angels walking amongst each other, just living their lives. And that is what I intend to do.
Luckily, this place I came to has one of my most fabulous friends as one of its inhabitants. Christina’s support and guidance in this next journey of my life does not go unnoticed. She’s my roommate and my sister, and knowing all that she knows about my ludicrosity (word made up by me) still thought it would be a good idea to live together. One month down and we don’t want to kill each other – in fact, it kind of works well. Really well! We live in Palms which isn't really too special, but it is right across the street from Culver City, home of Culver Studios, Sony Pictures and the cutest downtown area ever. We are surrounded by more than enough stores, restaurants and entertainment. It's almost too hard to choose where to go, eat or see. The other awesome thing about living in Palms is its proximity to everywhere else - 15 minutes to West Hollywood! 15 minutes to Santa Monica! 10 minutes to Venice Beach and Marina del Rey! 20 minutes to downtown! Can't complain.
So now that I have been here for over a month, I've compiled some goals for my time here. Nothing too extreme - just some special "to do's" that I know will contribute positively to existing here in LA! But I'll save those for the next post...until then, hasta la vista, dudes.
